    Overexpression of Cat and Sod1 was carried out using the FLP-OUT system. Induction of the FLP1 recombinase with the heat-induced hsp70 promoter resulted in the removal of the stop sequence which acted like a blocker for Cat and/or Sod1's transcription. The study included 2 replicated experiments and 2 fly heterogeneous genetic backgrounds (T/D). In the first experiment, the transgenic line containing the gene combination Cat 2A2,Sod1 3A1 (insert location-specific) in the (D, long-lived) background resulted in a double mutant with an increase in lifespan compared to the Cat single mutant and a decrease in lifespan compared to the Sod1 single mutant.
